About Us!

  • The Wright State University Astronomy Club got its official start on October 12, 2007. Our goal is the peaceful pursuit and enjoyment of astronomy. We are actively engaged in the process of educating both ourselves and the Wright State University community in the wonders of the universe. Anyone who has even the slightest interest in the cosmos can join us as we explore it together! For Spring Quarter 2010, meetings will be held on campus on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30pm (with the exception of the last meeting of the quarter, which will be held on June 3rd). The room is 242 Millett Hall.

  • Membership in the WSUAC is totally free, though we do ask that members consider making donations to help us with outreach efforts and other projects. NOTE: As of Fall Quarter 2009, membership in student organizations will be restricted to registered students at Wright State University. This is a policy change of the university.

  • We invite all WSU students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public, to our stargazing site in Yellow Springs. There is no charge to attend; however, as part of our agreement with Greene County Parks and Recreation we require that potential attendees provide us with the license plate number of the personal vehicle they will be bringing to the park we utilize for the stargaze. If you are interested in joining us, please contact us at wsuastronomy@gmail.com with your vehicle license plate number.

  • Click here to see the latest revision of our constitution and here to view our bylaws.

  • WSUAC has adopted The Flag of Earth as a statement that science is a part of the common ground that our world shares today. Our hope is that one day we will see a planet unified in the pursuit of science instead of war.

  • We are presently a society member of the Astronomical League. All official WSUAC members will receive the AL publication The Reflector, along with other benefits like magazine and book discounts. Our regional affiliation is the Great Lakes Region. This website has a section, ALCor's Corner! with the latest news regarding our affiliation with the AL.

  • We still have a group on Facebook, though it has not been updated for some time.

  • We now have an official club telescope, an Orion 8" dobsonian-mounted reflector. This telescope, purchased with SOBC funds granted by the University, has been added to our current arsenal of telescopes that are owned by the Wright State Physics Department.
